    DVD Type

    Hi,

I have been using DVD shrink for about 6 months now and everything has been fine. I just ran out of my blank HP DVD-RW and decided to buy Sony DVD-R which was on sale. Now the movies don't burn but a message comes up that it is unable to read media and please put in blank media to backup movie. I went out yesterday and bought the HP DVD-RW and i am fine now but I was wondering why it wouldn't burn to DVD-R SOny.

    Any help is appreciated.

    Thanks,
    Lexman

      lexman, welcome to the forum.

check your burner's firmware & see if it's up to date :

To determine the capabilities/limitations of your DVD burner, as well as media compatibility, go to:

(If necessary, open the Device Manager in the Control Panel to determine the make and model number)

Excuse my buttin in, I'm just browsing through some messages to try to educate myself on this stuff.

          setarip and experi-mentor:

Firmware is the burner itself? (as opposed to the software that runs it?) and I need to check out on the sites mentioned in your replies to see what media it will use?

before installing any firmware, read all the conditions, as they can effect the warranty on your burner (if any).
