    Inserting .wmv movie into PowerPoint

I just joined this forum. I wonder if any one expert in PowerPoint presentation can help. I give lots of Poerpoint presentations as a scientific communicator. I captured a video of the experimental procedure using Widows Movie Maker from a digital camera. The movie is great and I would like to insert that movie in the PowerPoint presentation. When I do that (insert movie or sound from file), I get an error message and PowerPoint shuts down (what a disaster if it happens in the middle of actual presentation. I can insert the .avi movie without any trouble but if possible I don't want to convert the .wmv movie into .avi movie (the file size triples).

If any one has come up with the problem I am facing, please HELP. I am using Windows XP (Home Addition and PowerPoint Suite 2003).

    Thanks Azia

Try converting the "Captured" video to mpeg-1. PowerPoint should not have a problem accepting mpeg files.

Thanks, Ormonde for the quick reponse. Which conversion software do you use. I tried to do this using Adobe Premier (Ihave mpeg as a codec in Premier) but it would not recognize the .wmv movie. I am surprized that the Windows Movie Capture gives a movie in .wmv format and then you can do very little with it. I would have thoght widows softwares would be all copatibe (ie, movie captured with Windows Movie Maker should be compatible with PowerPoint). I wonder if Microsoft knows about this problem.

Again, thanks for your help. Let me know if you can which software is good for converting .wmv movie to .mprg format.

"Which conversion software do you use."

        Try a program called "AVSVideoConverter".

Thanks for the information. I got their web site from Google and downloaded the software ($29). It is very good and I had no problem converting. .wmv file to .avi or .mpeg file. You seem to be very knowlegeable in video technology. I really appreciate your help.
