That looks really bad. Are you able to reinstall DivX5? And what OS are you using?

Can't offer much here. A reinstall of Windows is a sound idea, but only if you think it's worth the effort. However, should you wish to reinstall Windows, do choose either Win2K or WinXP, as these are the more versatile, NT-based Windows. WinME is a BIG no no in my book. I would rather use Win98SE instead.

Here's a thought. Assuming the DivX5 installer is free of virus, disable your AVP abd try reinstalling it. Some AVPs screw up installation of certain programs and so should be shut down during installation.

Either WinXP or Win2K will give you more happiness than 98/ME. Just make sure you get them installed properly.

i know this isnt really the place to ask but i'm getting desperate to get my system working properly....i already have win 2k on another partition

There are certain files you can copy and back-up, but unfortunately I can't remember them anymore.

Find your Outlook express folder (if that's the mail program you use) on you computer and save all the files onto disk(I think the extention is .dbx or something like that). Then you can import them into your mail program after you upgrade. As I remember correctly, your address book is in a different folder and you will have to search for that if you want to import all that stuff to!
