i'm all new to video editing on pc...

i have just downloaded 'virtualdub'

i pressed: 'file' then :'capture avi'

the message was: 'no capture driver available'

does that mean i dont have the video card-
or just the driver is missing?

Have you installed the driver (for the video camera and any capture card)? If not, then install it. If you don't have one, you will most likely have to purchase on. However, if you did get a new computer, as you mention, a video capture card should be standard.
