I am very very new to this digital stuff but i have a ton of old VHS tapes (movies i made myself) and want to convert them to DVD and using PC and software to edit them, etc. then burn them back to DVDs--my PC has DVD burner. I thought the quickest way might be to buy one of the DVD recorders (the kind that dub VHS tapes to DVDs) then download the DVD to software (i have Pinnacle Studio and Roxio MovieCreator) --neither program recognizes the DVD drive on my computer to "capture" video--i can find no mention in either manual either about getting video into PC that way. So-o-o- do i need a different software or do i have to use the Dazzle Capture device????? (bought one of them too--just thought the DVD-VHS Recorder would be easier).

so i can use the Recorder?? (copies VHS to DVD). Excuse me for being so dumb but how do you copy the DVD to hardrive? do i need software (DVD COPY ie???)--Pinnacle Studio 8 does not recognize anything other than a USB or DV capture device in its drop down menu (i coudnt even find the hardrive or any other "port" for this in the manual. Funny thing i took a VCD i had made couple years ago and Windows Movie Maker recognized it from the DVD drive and copied it. Why wont these other programs do that? Please recommend some software i can get that will?? thank you for any and all help--i apologize for what must seem stupid questions about all this but only way i figure i can learn is from you guys!!!Comment
