    converting my dvd's into a mov file

    hello everyone, im new to the site and im trying to learn. im at work right now. i havent had time to read alot on here yet and i will. i was just interested in knowing how or if i can take my dvd and convert them into a mov file. i wanted to upload the movie to my website and stream it back thru using quicktime . i do not konw what software i would need to do this. i need the movie to be in mov.file to be able to stream back thru quicktime.
    Thanks in advance if anyone could help me

    You might be able to get more information at a MAC-specific forum as to how to accomplish this directly (going from DVD directly to .MOV format). However, if you look at the many excellent tutorials and obtain the readily available required software of your choice from:

    Digital Digest DivX Xvid Section - List of recommended, top 10 DivX, Xvid and AVI articles, guides and software, latest news and updates


    you'll be able to convert the DVD into either MPEG or .AVI format. You can then use QuickTime Profesional (PC version) to convert to .MOV.

        ok thanks alot set like i said before im new. ill go read that and hopefully ill learn it. ill be back im sure if i dont understand it hehe. how long does it normally take to convert a dvd to avi then to mov?

          ormonde, im new to this not sure what u mean by mac/pc i just wanna stream a movie from my website . but im using windows xp nothing special so i would assumce pc platform. sorry i just dont understand.

            depending on your computer specs, I would say any where from, 1 and a half, to 3 hours.

                  sorry thank you too ormonde i was at work didint get to teply to you. so i need to look at those links and download that to convert my dvd to mov? going to read that last post now im sure ill be back lol

                      ok just got back in if u guys are still here wht program do i need to open the osex program also the diva and the 3ivx D4 4.5. ?
                      again thanks in advanced. and once i have it in mov format. what do i use to upload it to my site to get the url my host is bluehost.com and they do support video/audio and it is already in my package deal i have up to 2gb of space. again thanks for taking time out to help me guys..
