Copying my friends back up problem.

1. I use DVD Shrink to open the copied dvd.

2. When analyzing, it'll reach about 92-99% read then it'll say "Disc read error. Error redundancy" something like that.

3. Also i notice, while analyzing, seems like it'll max out up to 4,300 kb read per sec at around 50-60% then it'll start declining up until it freezes.

4. If that doesn't happen, and let you "Encode" sometimes it only reads up to 90-98% then the problem reoccur..

5. Can i just simply copy his DVD-R through Nero DVD copy disc feature and then use my DVD+R blanks?

A CRC error indicates that there's a problem with the physical unprotected burned DVD (scratched, dirty, Peanut Butter and Jelly) - Try cleaning the DVD.

Clean your disk. See here.

And yes, you can simply copy the disk if it is unprotected.

Okay, thanks for that info... and now im able to copy them with ease....


but another problem occurred.... i've never really tried to watch what i had copy from him... and when i did, my DVD player weren't able to read my copies....

his copy is an Authored copy, which consist of Main Movie ifo's....

He also used a 4x blank, while i use Taiyo's 16x blank dvd....

My burning settings are at 2.4x.... do i need to slow it down, cause even when i try to back up my originals, my copy seems to skip when i play them.... what am i doing wrong?

TY's are great disks so I guess your problem is with the original. You may in fact want to speed it up a bit! Many disks don't like being burned at much lower than their rated speeds. Try 4x.

I do recommend you to test your burn afterwards though - see my sig. You can also use this procedure to test the original!

Are you copying your friend's backup DVD? If so, then unless it's a copyright free DVD, it's illegal and discussions about it are against forum rules.

If not, then making a backup of a backup is always a bit risky - the first backup may have had some formatting errors, and the backup of the backup may built upon these errors to cause improper playback on standalones.

Trying out DVD media is also important, because certain players like (or don't like) certain brands. So if you find a good brand (of manufacturer), just stick with it.

@admin - I replied and did not report the post because nowhere was it said that the DVD contained copyright material.

Although not a moderator, I believed the post did not violate rule 6.
