    Dark Playback after Capture

    Hey guys and gals,

Sorry if this is a stupid question but hopefully someone can help me!

I have been trying to capture video from my Sony DCR-HC40E DV Camera. Everytime I play back the capture it is very dark and I can hardly see it. It doesn't matter what file type I capture it as (MPEG-2 or AVI) and I am pulling my hair out trying to fix the problem.

My graphics card is GeForce4 MX 440. I have tried adjusting heaps of the settings to help with the playback but to no avail.

Sometimes, on different settings during capture, the picture will actually look dark as it is capturing. However, even if I find a setting during which the capture looks great, when I try and import it into a movie making program (Edit Studio, Windows Movie Maker, Nero etc), it plays back dark!!!

Has anyone got any ideas that could help?

    Thanks heaps.

    Muzz.

Welcome to the Digital Video Forums of Digital Digest!

Before you import the .AVI (or MPEG) file, in "which the capture looks great", into a "movie making program", play it in Windows Media Player.

Does it look dark? If so, the problem is not related to any of the "movie making programs you've noted...
