Subtitles Causes Framelag - Need Help

    Hi Everyone!

I'm new here from today and I'm having a small, but very annoying
problem and I was hoping that maybe someone here could help me
    with this problem I have

Just like the title says I'm having Framelag when playing movies with
subtitles. In other words, when I'm playing the movie everything runs
nice and smoothly until there's a conversation and the subtitles appear
on the screen, that's when the screen gets a very small lag.

This problem only appears when watching movies with added subtitles
and not the ones with subtitles in the movie by default. In other words
subtitles that gets auto-launched by DirectVobSub.
I hope that makes sense, as I'm having a hard time finding words

I'm not totaly sure, but I think it has something to do with the drivers
for the graphicscard. I changed them today to a newer version and
    that's when the problem began.
I then uninstalled them and went back to the old ones, which BTW did
work the last time I had this problem, but it didn't work this time and
I'm still having the framelag everytime a subtitle appears on screen.

I even tried uninstalling Matroska Pack and grabbed the latest version
Matroska_Pack_Full_v1.1.1 to be precise, but that only made things
worse as no movie file would play after the installation

So after some uninstalling and reinstalling I finaly got things back to
the way the were and all movies plays fine once again, exept for one
    small problem...
    You guessed it, the Framelag

    So what I'm asking is:
Is there anyone out there who have had this problem or knows of a way
    to fix this?
Because it ain't fun to watch movies that framelag everytime there's a
    conversation in the movie.

Like I said before, it might have something to do with graphics drivers but
I'm not totaly sure, but the graphicscard I'm using is Radeon 9800 Pro 128
if that can be of some help.

I hope someone here can shine some light here and
help me with this, many thanks in advance

I hope I posted this in the right section and if not, I'm very sorry

Does the burnt dvd play ok in your stand alone dvd player ? Try to play your video after each step to try and see what step is causing the problem.

      Hi tigerman8u

First I want to thank you for taking your time to look into my problem

I should've mentioned that it's just a file on the harddrive and it has
nothing to do with playing it in a DVD as I watch most of my movies
on the harddrive and have it linked to my TV

It's a *.ogm file which has subtitles embedded into the file, which then
launches DirectVobSub with auto-detection of subtitles.
Now I can watch the movie without any problem with lag, but then I'd
have to turn off the subtitles with DirectVobSub and voila the lag is gone.
But I can't give them up either as I need them to watch this movie

The problem came to surface after I installed a newer version of drivers
for my grahicscard and after I noticed the problem I removed them and
installed the old ones again but the problem still remains.
So I need to ask if Matroska Pack has any connection to the graphics
      drivers?
In other words, if you remove and install new drivers for the card, might
it take effect on the install of Matroska Pack?

There's also one more thing that seems a little strange. I'm using Matroska
Pack 1.0.3 right now and that Pack plays all the movie types I have and
      I love that pack
Anyway when the problem started I uninstalled Matroska Pack 1.0.3 and
installed 1.1.1 instead, hoping that this might somehow solve the problem.
But then movies didn't want to play at all, which I find a little strange and I
went back to version 1.0.3 and the movies plays fine again, but still having
the problem with the small lag everytime subtitles pop up on screen.
Has anyone had the same problem with Matroska Pack 1.1.1?

I tried the program MatroskaDiag and I got these failed messages:

      MPEG-I Stream Splitter
31> Trying connection to DirectVobSub (auto-loading version) :
31> Failed connecting pin to DirectVobSub (auto-loading version), removing it now.

      531> DirectVobSub (auto-loading version) AddFilter failed : : Odefinierat fel (0x80004005)

As you can see the program is giving many failed messages for DirectVobSub
which is the program that launches the subtitles which furter seems to
be the reason for lag, the subtitles that is.
And just as I mentioned before, if I turn off DirectVobSub with the subtitles
the problem is no more so... What do you guys think?
