Where to start to make vcd with pics and avis

I need to make a VCD with jpegs and video from my camera (mini dv) and lay music over it for a birthday video. I have no idea where to start or what software to use. Any help??

There are lots of downloadable options for free if you want to go that way .. the other one is to use XP moviemaker. You will find it in start>windows movie maker. It takes a bit of getting used to but since you most probebly have it on your PC its worth a try.

I like Ulead videostudio. you can d/l a trial version from their website
