Trying to get tv show onto CD

I have a tv show episode of CSI that I downloaded onto my computer and i've been trying to get it onto a cd. Im using nero 6.6 update and when I choose make a super video cd it tells me that I need a MPEG-2 decoder/ect. When I try make a video cd it works it first encodes the file and then after it askes for the cd-rw when I insert it it tells me it does not have enough space. The file size is 745mb and the most the cd-rw can hold is 702mb. One other thing im confused about is will a dvd player run a cd-rw to play my show on it? I was of the opinion that I would have to use a dvd-r. The dvd-r would save me from me the problems i'm having with the cd-rw because it holds 4.7 GB. Can someone please help me get this onto the cd-rw if it will work on the dvd player. Also if anyone knows how to put my episode onto dvd-r let me know.

VCDs (Video CDs) are based on TIME and not Mbs.

Under normal circumstances, a 700 Mb CD can hold approximately 80 minutes of VCD video with audio...

Thanks I know its just that nero tells me it cant hold it because its 745mb. It dosent mention time at all And the reason why I posted it here is because im not sure where to put it theres no section for video file shrink or compression for that matter. If you know where I should post this to get responded to please tell me instead of complaing that im not in the right forum.

Ok and what about the person trying to get help for there 2005 war of the worlds dvd. It just came out in the movie thearters but he is getting help from lots of people. This contradicts everything you just said.

that person claims it is the 1953 version, anyway you need to shorten the TIME to make it fit on the VCD. the most i have ever squeezed on a VCD is 1hr 19 min and app.40 seconds. the file was about 800MB, and the disc was 700MB. yes it burned fine and i don't use overburn. shorten the length of the file.

been awhile since I did a vcd but IIRC a vcd is written as one continous track with no breaks. this allows for the larger file size. over at doom9 they were working on a program that allowed you to do this with more than one file. IIRC is was called kcd or something like that.
