    Burning time

I have been backing up my DVD's for while now, but still considber myself quite a newbie.
I am using both DVDShrink 3.1 and 3.2.
I used to be able to do a copy in about a half hour. This was before I started doing the indepth analysis before encoding. Now I get burns that take anywhere up to 2.5 hours.
    I have a:

    XP3200 amd cpu
    2gb PC-3200 Corsair ram.

I have made no changes of any kind with the exception of the analysis.
I have checked the faq's as well.
I do realize that the compression does take time, but it seems to be a
    little extreme.
Any help or comments would greatly be appreciated.
    Thanks

make sure DMA is enabled: http://forum.digital-digest.com/show...threadid=44808

i am guessing you enabled "AEC" (adaptive error compensation) in shrink, which will greatly increase encoding time. Different movies at different lengths, compression and content will take different amounts of time.

still, 2 1/2 hours is quite excessive (unless we are dealing with the lord of the rings trilogy ). are/were there any other programs running in the background while shrinking? checked for viruses/spyware? does it take unusually long on other dvd's?

I think you may be correct about the "error compensation" thing. I seem to recall that being checked.
I have very little running in the background. I have my services cut down to about 22, including antivirus and zone alarm. I practice the "Black VIper " method of XP configuration.

I will have to wait till I get home to check it out though.
The 2.5 hour disc was last night with "Wizard of Oz".
      Thanks for the suggestion.

Sure enough I had that box checked. Things speeded right up after I
          removed it.
          Thanks
