driving me crazy

im trying to transfer digital video onto my computer and its showing up very dark yet when i pause the downloaded video its almost the correct brightness also a similiar problem with photos from digital camera and scanned pictures everything else on the monitor is the correct brightness i use unlead and motion dv and have a firewire im lost please help
