No sound on downloaded video. xvid?

I'm so annoyed. After downloading a particular video for quite some time, when I finally played it into a windows media player, I find that it has no audio. wtf? I tried using virtual dub in it to find its audio, but I didn't find any. My question is how can I get its audio and if I used any codec in this, can I convert this into DVD format (mpeg2)? Two files I dled are spirited away and millenium actress. AAARRRGGH! Thanks!

    Hello

If the "File Information" screen of VirtualDub indicates there's no audio then there's no audio

open the file in 'virtualdub'. under 'file', click 'file information'. check if it has audio. if you're not sure, post the file information here

          Please refer to rule 6.

As for your question, try a codec identification tool like afreeCodecVT or GSpot to see which audio codec the file uses, or if it indeed has any audio at all.
