Plz help , even TMPG gives errors

    Hi

Does anyone here have any tips on a problem i`m having here

converting , or even viewing a flick

The movie is a good quality , 24 FPS , audio format is

    MPEG layer 3 & Video sample size is DIVXMPG4 , &

    640 x 272 pixels

Yet TMPG enc 2.51.33.127 says an error occurred when

audio was decoded , my windows media player only plays audio

& the video portion is all the psychedelic stuff that it plays with an

    Ie: Mp3 , DIVX playa(Alpha 2.0) ,gives me a runtime error & says an

abnormal program termination , when i try to play the flick ,

i also have the latest codec installed , & Virtual dub said something about

DIVX codec being hacked ???? & couldn`t guarantee results

    Sheesh!!!!!

Do you have any idea how i can get this converted to VCD or @ least view it on my PC

"The movie is a good quality"

The rest of your post appears to contradict this.

Load the file into VirtualDub again. From under the "File" dropdown menu, select "File Information". Post back here EVERYTHING listed (audio as well as video), or post a screen capture .JPG of the information box...

You have an incompletely downloaded file. the number of audio frames should be approximately equal to the number of video frames (or approximately double if Variable Bit Rate audio)...

                    How did that happen ?

                    Fanx for your reply

How can incompleted downloads cause these errors ?

i have many incompletes that i`m waiting to complete

in time , & i can view those incomplete movies

Is this file garbage , or can i do something with it

from the audio i can tell that the entire movie is actually

                    there

                    Fanx for all -

There is also another possibility - that these files are being created with "other-than-standard 1:1" audio-video interleave, such as 1:15, just to save a few Megs of filesize.

Is there any hope for this movie

Fanx for yet another friendly reply -

So is there any hope i can view this flick or even

                        burn it ?

Enchanter anwered my post & suggested

3.11a-encoded movies should be played with 3.11a codec and

vice versa. & that i should scrap V. 5 codec

i asked him what about movies created with other codecs ,

with the suggested scheme a different codec install for each

type , & how do i tell which codec was used on each flick ?

Shouldn`t the new releases be backwards compatiable ?

This is very confusing . i still wait his reply

                        TIA -
