Playback problem - help a noob!

    Howdy...forgive me for my n00bness
I'm having an issue with video playback. I have K-Lite Mega Codec Pack 1.44 installed and I use MPC as player. Videos tend to "hang" occaisonally - the video freezes and audio continues regularly and then a second later everything catches up. If I replay that section, there's no flaw in any of the video files...it's not bad frames (I checked in VirtualDub) and it happens for multiple file types (OGM, AVI). Gspot shows either DivX or Xvid compression for video portion of the files. System resources aren't a problem, I'm running a custom build with a 256Mb video card and 1Gb RAM. Any ideas?
    Thanks!

Hmmm... sometimes programs do that to me because I have a lower memory, but 1GB is pretty high. Is it just media player classic or does Windows Media Player do that as well?
