I have many bootleg DVD's that contain 4 hours of video and it can be played in any DVD player. My question is, is it possible for me to do that? Is there some sort of compression program or something? I ran a forum search and a google search and came up empty handed. I hope you guys know what I'm talking about...
Putting way more than 120 min of video on a DVD

If you want 4 hours then you just need to use a bitrate low enough. 7 hours is about the limit and you would want to use 1/4 resolution.
If your source is a DVD already then DVDShrink would work. Otherwise any MPEG1/2 encoder.Comment

That wouldn't be much good techreactor, since any NTSC DVD requires an AC3 track (somewhere) to be compliant (or if not, an LPCM track).

I would have thought the opposite. To fit the most video, you want the smallest audio and AC3 will give you better sound quality than mp2. You just don't want to use 5.1 AC3. 2 channel 192k AC3 would be fine, you could go lower if you wanted.Comment

That much time, you'd wanna go MP4 wouldn't you? (Assuming you had an MP4 capable player)

@drf - I have reviewed those words and they are in accord with rule 6 (in fact, I did this well in advance of your post). Nowhere does he say he downloaded a movie and although the word bootleg connotes illegality, the post is within forum rules.
Please review forum rule 17 regarding reporting posts. This rule is in place to ensure no fights break out.

BTW, I used mp2 and 3 movies in one DVD only for my regional movies, for the English ones I always used AC3 5.1 with only 2 movies onto a DVD.Comment

I don't mean converting one of the bootleg DVD's down to a regular 4.7; thats really easy... I mean putting on that much video from like 4 hours of Avi's or Mpegs that I have on a regular 4.7 gig DVD. If DVD shrink could do that, can some one point me in the right direction.Comment
