What do I do next?

I have a file that I downloaded from Limewire that is a full length film in an .avi format. I get no pic nor sound after download completed. BUT, I was able to launch and view the movie while it was downloading. (I think I viewed it in Windows Media Player during download)

The file is to large to read in word, notepad, or wordpad to find out the codec

Is it possible the film has an a/v codec in the begining and a different one at the end? or Something?

You were probably viewing a streaming version of the file from the website while you were downloading it. If you right-click on the file, select "Properties" and then "Advanced", you'll see information about the audio and video codecs used for that file.
