Need advice on process of getting digital video to DVD

I have tried to use a firewall cable and used Microsoft Movie Maker. The pc does not recognize the camera at all. I have just hooked the firewall on the camera and played back the tape in vcr mode and connected it to the pc in the firewall connection. Have I done something wrong? No matter what I do I can not get it to see the camcorder. I can get the still pictures transferred with the usb like you mentioned. But no luck with video.

I just noticed that this thread had spilled to a 2nd page or I would have replied sooner.

Unfortuantley you are beyond my assistnace. I have never had trouble seeing my camera w/ firewire. Are you sure your firewire port is active? Have you used it for anything else?

Wekiva that first thought you had and fhought it was overkill about doing 2 backups per.Maybe it would be a good idea considering what the originals are on.
