    WinDVD

    Greetings everyone,

I am trying to use WinDVD to watch (NOT COPY) rental movies on my computer from Hollywood video. For some reason, all I get is a blank screen when I play the movies. When I play the movies on my Sony dvd player connected to my tv it works fine. Is my computer dvd drive broken? is there some sort of encryption on rentals that wont allow them to be used in windvd? Also, after I try and play a rental dvd using windvd and the screen goes black, any other dvd that usually works also displayes a black sceen on the computer until I reboot it.

do regular retail movies have this problem?

try using "media player classic" to play the dvd. get it from http://www.free-codecs.com/download/...er_Classic.htm

    under "file" click "open dvd"
