    AVI won't play

I downloaded the pilot for 'Curb Your Enthusiasm' in .avi format. When I try to play it, get this message 'Windows Media Player cannot play the file. The Player might not support the file type or might not support the codec that was used to compress the file'.

I have downloaded Xvid, and it has played other .avi files [including some 'Curb Your Enthusiasm episodes] that I previously downloaded.

Can anyone suggest what to try next?

open the file in virtualdubmod, under 'file' click 'file information' and post all info here

or for a possible quick fix, download & install the lastest ffdshow from http://ffdshow.sourceforge.net/tikiw...etting+ffdshow

try to open the file in Gspot or Avicodec (both free). You can try VLC (videolan) to play the file. If VLC won't play the file it might be a corrupt/bogus file.
