    Problem with Burning DVDs

Last summer I started to learning about burning and whatnot, and got on quite well.

I generally use TMPGEnc, and it's other DVD tools n stuff, then burn using Nero.

However, last month, somehow, for some reason, after installing programs like Alcohol, and Daemon Tools (i reckon) my DVD burner doesn't seem to work.

I'm completely usure as to how to go about making it work at the moment.

I'm using a Dell Latitude notebook, with a Sony DVD+RW. Any ideas??

Hi and welcome to the forum

Your problem could be the disc. Rewritables can be rewritten only a limited number of times. Try with a new disc to see if this solve.

too many cooks in the kitchen?

long ago and far away I had similar problems, I just uninstalled it all, used clean tools and
reinstalled one program to do one job.
sometimes I had to reload my computer, taught me a lesson

I'm using TDK DVD+R discs...i think it's something to do with the actual hardware, because it has trouble running games every now and then. How could I check this?

Well firstly I would follow chewy's advice and remove those excess progs. If you have installed lots in the past there could be a conflict somewhere.

Then if you're still having problems I would suggest the drive is shonky...

Check for a firmware update for the Sony.
There is also a patched firmware that'll let you burn to -R media if you're interested.

If you are using DVD Shrinks automated Nero burning try buring manually or alternatively output to ISO and try ImgBurn.
