Still no luck putting avi files on a dvd

I have been trying to put avi files (tv show eps) onto a dvd, a basic dvd, that you could watch on your tv. I can't figure it out. Is there any free program that could do this, if so what and how. I was given a link with a whole bunch of info that is on this site, but that stuff might as well be written in Chinese for all that I understand it. So if someone could give me the dummy version, I would really appreciate it!! Thanks!!

I used the program dvxtodvd it created Video_TS files, what do I need to do next??? This is so confusing, my dyslexic brain (yes I really do have it) can't comprehend all this tech stuff, I feel really stupid. Thanks to those that have tried to help.

Can you view it on your PC? Using WinDVD, PowerDVD, or whichever playback software you have. Go into the Video_TS folder and double click on any IFO file and if you have a designated default video player it should fire up.
Once you have established that the files are in working order just burn to disc if it is small enough to fit on a 4.7 DVD

Hey Smeg, does the output DVD come out in avi format or are you saying that Nero Vision converts the files to DVD, then burns to disc?

No they will not play on any program, not even DivX. The Nero program people have mentioned, that is something you have to pay for right?? This is driving me nuts!!!

Can you run the Video_TS folder thru DVD Shrink and create an iso file, then burn with IMGBurn? Worth testing it out on disc, only sacrificing 50 cents or so , right?

If your DVD player handles AVI files (as many do these days), just burn those AVIs onto a data DVD and play them as is, no conversion necessary. If your player only handles DVD (or VCD), then you have to convert those AVIs into proper DVD (or VCD) structure, such as with any of the programs mentioned above. Since it seems you did that already, then just burn the resulting VIDEO_TS folder onto a DVD with your favorite burning software.

No there not converted to dvd files ther put onto the disk as avi files
