How to make a HDTV video?

    Hello,

I have a site where I will put some video's on and I want them on great quality.
So I have the following question:

How can you make, with which program, or what do you have to do to make a HDTV video file?
With this I mean a file like you can find everywhere. For example the file: Lost.02E01.Xvid-LOL.avi
I want such a quality for my video's.

The video's are now on dvd, so can you help me?

    Thank you!

you need a hdtv source to begin with (720p+). then encode to xvid/x264 with a program of your choice. eg meGUI, staxrip, gordian knot

It doesn't look like I can do that...

Is there any other way to convert these video and still have a good quality?
The video's are still one dvd, so can someone explain me what that I have to do?

      Thank you again!

Well a LoL ep would be lower than DVD res anyway (say 608x336). So basically just a standard two pass XviD encode. There are higher than DVD res HDTV encodes out there though (960x540 or so) which you could not reproduce from a DVD source other than upsizing.

When I do that with FlaskMPEG I got the following error: Statsfile not found!
Does someone know how I can fix that problem?

            Run a 1st pass before you run a 2nd. Also I wouldn't recommend FlaskMPEG.
