How Can I change my vob files to mpegs?

How I can I make watchable movies for my computer from a DVD? DVD's are uploaded as vob files (which are unwatchable, of course) and if I manually change them (just change the file extension) the video messes up. The sound is out of sinc and I can't fast forward. How do people upload movies and watch them on their computer? Thanks a lot.

If you still want to convert them to mpeg you can try Vob2Mpg:

        DVDSubEdit
        ImgBurn

I tried using vob2mpeg because I really want to make my movies into mpgs so as they can be playable in Aftereffects but the sound isn't synced. Arg. So close. Anybody have any suggestions?

if you have TMPGenc (they give you a 30 day free trial) get a ripper (DVDecrypter or Smartripper are freeware) and set the rip to give you one big VOB file (if they're broken you have to merge them because VOB video info is only included in the first VOB file...it's easier to adjust the settings to get one VOB file on the rip.) In TMPGenc go to file>>MPEG Tools>>Demultiplex and load your VOB in. Doubleclick the video and save to .m2v file...then doubleclick audio and save to .mp2. Then go back to file>>MPEGTools>>simple multiplex...select "MPEG2 program VBR"..load the m2v in video source and the mp2 into audio source and hit "run". Voila. If the audio wont save as mp2...and only as ac3 it needs to be converted. I believe you can convert ac3 to mp2 by simply loading it into the audio window on TMPGenc's main screen's opening page and clicking start...could be wrong here...been a couple of years since i've done it. Also...audio gaps can be corrected in TMPGenc Settings>>Advanced>>Source Range and look for the Audio correction window (hint...its set up for milliseconds...1000 ms=1 second).
