So here is where I am at, I have windows XP with a lot of freeware software, after now my ninth hour of reading tuterials and Downloading new materials I cannot seem to get the programs to work how they say to in the tuterials or guides. I have Downloaded:
VirtualDubMod
SolveigMM_AVI_Trimmer_1_2_beta
Yamb
HandBrake-0.7.0 ( I know it is for Macs, but there was a windows version to try)
GordianKnot
DVDDecrypter
AutoGordianKnot.2.27.
DVDx
Stream Cutter
When I start up SmartRipper 2.41 it says the "aspi" is not valid, so I followed the guide, went the the official website for the drivers and installed (and unziped) them how it said to and restarted, so they should have took affect, then did not it appears.
I can use quite a few of the programs to locate and copy the IFO files and make backups of them. When I use the AutoGK and click the backed up file, it says it is not a supported file type and then blanks out the field, when in the file selection box it says it was a selectable type. So making a back up is easy enough for me, what I would like to do is to reduce the file size, and convert it to AVI (was hopeing for WMV or similar type, but havent found how to you) or another editable video form I can make smaller movies and overlay my own sound onto the clips.
I have looked through the begninners guide, and it is not helping me fully, I can get the backups, but not proced from there. Currently I am using FairUse program to try it, has been running for almost an hour now and only 59% complete, so I will try that next, but can anyone lead me in a simple way to do what I am attempting.
If I am posting this in the wrong area, I am sorry, but after 5 hours straight looking at the computer screen, my eyes are starting to hurt.
