Arg. I'm trying to convert vob files into mpegs. My problem is that the audio is not synced. The sound lags behind. I bought my computer last November and have been trying since then but still no luck! I want to be able to rip a movie, re-edit it, then re-burn to a DVD. I'm using DVD shrink to rip the movie into 1 vob file. I've tried so many things. First, I manually renamed the extension. That didn't work. Next, I used the program vob2mpg, still no improvements. I've tried other methods with no luck. I want to try virtual dub, but when I try to open my vob file, it won't let me. It gives me some message about mpeg2 - stream. I thought I had it figured out when I realized that I could manually slide the sound using AfterEffects, but guess what? It tells me it can't play the sound! Oh the video will work fine, but no sound. I'm ready to throw my laptop out the window. One of the reasons I bought a new computer was for getting DVD clips and re-editing them. Every time I ask, I get a different answer. Not a problem in itself, but none of them are working! Please, if anybody knows what I'm doing wrong, tell me! Do I need new codecs? Drivers? Help!
I can't take it any more. Please help!

As for editing vob files(without changing extensions),try Womble MPEG Video Wizard DVD.sigpic

OK...here you go. Download TMPGenc from this site (they give you a 30 day trial). Go to "File">>"MPEG Tools">>"Demultiplex" and load your VOB into source. Double click the video stream and save it (make sure you know where its going...it'll save as a .m2v file). then double click and save the audio (it'll save as an .mp2 or .ac3 file). Then go to "Simple Multiplex"...set it to "MPEG2 Program (VBR)"...load the .m2v file in "video source" window and the audio file in the "audio source" window and hit "run". Voila, an MPEG2. If it's still out of synch let me know. There's a way to correct that in TMPGenc too.Comment

paglamon - thanks for the suggestions. Haven't tried those yet, but I will.
rsquirell - that's actually the last thing I tried. It was probably done on your advice, too! Well, it didn't work so I'll need to try something different.
Thanks for the help so far!Comment

Actually...it does work. It's called demux/mux. It's done all the time. Where exactly in the proceedure are you having problems? Are you able to separate the audio and video streams? Did you go to "Demultiplex" as directed or "Simple Demultiplex"? Where in the process are you having problems so we can walk you through in baby steps?Comment
