Oops! Another question please....

For informational purposes:
I checked the website where I ordered the 24 hr rental movie and they also have a purchase movie option which allows you to download the movie and keep it without expiration and it says you can transfer from computer to computer and/or copy it to disc but it will only play on your PC not your DVD player. I'm not sure what format the purchased movies are in but I assume it would be a .wmv format because it says they recommend viewing with Windows Media...

My question is... is there a way once I purchase a video and download to my PC, to make it playable on my DVD player?
Also, just so I'm clear... if I purchase the movie and want to transfer it to a DVD disc... is that still considered "pirating" or would it be just like it I purchased a movie at a retail store and wanted to back it up?

We don't give advice on what is legal and what is not. We only go by our rules, in particular rule 6.

To find out what format your movie is in, simply look at the windows extension. It most likely has some DRM attached to it.

But I think that JustPeachieee asked this question whether this is legal or not, because he/she wants to be sure that he/she doesn´t do anything that´s illegal? Is this also forbidden, according to rule 6?

We are not lawyers. Also, this area of the law is complex and varies across international boundaries. A senior intellectual property lawyer is required to give a legal opinion on this area and even then, there will certainly be others who will give an opposing view.

If JustPeachieee wants legal advice, surely a lawyer is her best bet, not a forum.

We only care about whether a member breaks our rules. We don't give advice on backing up rentals or downloaded movies, for example.
