cant read a dvd. help please

I just used Nero 7 to burn stuff on a dvd. when I put it on my comp (windows XP home edition, pentium 4), my computer cant find anything on the dvd. I give it to my friend and the same thing happens. then I try it on another computer( same as mine exept less RAM and a worser video card) and it can read it. can anyone please help ? I am really a noob at this stuff.
is it maybe the brand of dvds that I am using?

Did you finalize the disc after burning? Most burning programs, ones that I know of, by default finalize the disc after a burn.

Put the disc back into the drive, start the burning program and see if the disc is accessable through that burning program. If it is accessable using that burning program and nothing else can access it, the disc needs finalizing.

If it was finalized, probably bad media, try another blank or different brand of disc.

What brand are you using? You might try posting a burn log a lot of members can tell a lot from that information. You also might want to make sure your firmware is updated if you haven't lately.
