I have .avi s with subtitles build into them, when I go to convert them to dvd and watch them, the subtitles are cut off at the sides and on occation from the bottem, how can I fix this?
Inbedded subtitles cut off on viewing...

Sounds like overscan. You would need to pad the video with a black border so that it instead of the subtitles gets cut off.Last edited by celtic_druid; 17 Oct 2006, 07:16 PM. -

Like I said; overscan. Fansub groups don't care about overscan, so they don't keep their subs to a safe area. Guess you could always follow their advice which would be to buy a new TV. Otherwise you need to pad as I suggested. As to how. You never said how you were converting.Comment

Well I've never used DVDSanta so I wouldn't know how to pad video in it or even if it can. I can tell you that I wouldn't use AfterEffects though. Check out FitCD it creates AVISynth scripts for resizing taking overscan into account.Comment
