Removing Comercials

Good Morning,

I was looking for a piece of software that would be able to go through and remove the comercials from *.mpg files my TV tuner card creates. If the software could then compress that file that would just be an added bonus, removing the comercials is a must. Thanks as always for the help.

i use TMPGEnc (free version will sufice) for my mpeg-1 captures and commercial removing. what are you working with?

I was trying the trial version of ULead to see if I liked it, but when it scaned the file it created approximately 1200 slides, that was a bit much to go through

what kind of mpeg are you working with?

I'm at work right now so I'm trying to go by memory, but I beleive it is mpeg-4.

videoredo-- commercial software, but second to none for this type of work. won't compress or author though (yet)

other than that, projectX and cuttermaran, both freeware. cuttermaran takes elementary streams, file will need to be demuxed first

I have to also say that VideoReDo is probably the best and fastest I've tried as well. It is expensive though, at $49 bucks, but it was good enough for me to buy it at that price without even flinching.

I think your right, mpeg2 actually seems more accurrate.

I'm assuming here, but woud it be possible to use videoredo to remove the commercials, than use another piece of software to convert the mpeg2 to XviD(AVI)?

For some reason TMPGEnc wont open the .mpg file? Any ideas?

I did verify the TV turner Card create a MPEG-2 720x480 NTSC file.

My Bad.....TMPGEnc only converts into MPEG it doesn't do MPEG to AVI....Nevermind.
