Hey everyone I am having a huge problem. I downloaded a file on to the "Family" Computer and it is one that you wouldn't want the wife or kids to see. I can't delete it at all. I tried everything and it does nothing. I can't rename it or delete it or move it. I don't know what to do. You all have helped so much in the past I was hoping I could call on you all in this embarassing situation.
Help I can't delete a file

What type of file is it...... .exe or a media file.......... ? If things get real desperate for you, try a restore on your computer to a time before you downloaded your embarrassment. If That fails, I have an extra dog house I could loan you....................Last edited by kevdriver; 25 Sep 2006, 11:02 AM.Oils well thats ends well.Comment

Do you get this when you right click in windows?? Locate the file through my computer and then right click it. I used an Icon for an example.

Process Explorer will tell you what has grabbed the file. It will also enable you to kill the process and then delete the file.
Eqasiest is to boot to safe mode and delete.
And don't be a norty boy in future

another simple thing that has worked for me sometimes is to just cut and paste the sucker into the recycle bin, then empty. course these aren't truly devilish files"One day men will look back and say I gave birth to the 20th Century". Jack The Ripper - 1888

I tried all those with no luck. What is process explorer? How do I do that? I tried safe mode and it is no different. It is a movie clip.Comment

all I can do is play - which nothing happens or add to or send to but it won't let me send it anywhere. Delete, cu, paste, none of that comes up for this file onlyComment
