I have a Benq-1650 burner and I am using 16x HP lightscribe DVD's. I wanted to know can I set the burn speed to 16? and does that change the quality or the chances of a bad burn?

You can set the speed to maximum, but you probably won't get over 13X or so when burning...if your firmware is current and you use quality discs (HP usually aren't great) you can burn at high speeds with excellent results.

If you want nice looking labels, the printable media is the way to go.
Taiyo Yuden & Verbatim media is my choice for this burner; I burn at 8x- 12x with BCHC firmware. I get very good results - coasters are a thing of the past!

I didn't even notice the burner model number the first time around....I'm with katz, Verbatim and TY are in my everyday stock with the occasional Maxell (MIJ).

I try and you have to disable every thing, this one is HP only not lightscribe, I got max at 15.79
you may want to crossflash to 1655 and give it a trysigpicComment
