How to create a dvd with pictures?

If I create a picture slideshow type thing, with music in the background and text on some pages etc. using powerpoint, can I put it onto a dvd and then have it play on a dvd player? Never experimented with it and don't want to ruin a blank dvd just to test it out. Also, if there any other program you'd recommend to do this with, because it's not very easy with powerpoint...it's important that I can write text on a particular slide, and I want it to show up one paragraph at a time (seperated, like on a powerpoint you'd press the space bar, don't know what you'd do if on a dvd though)

Hi Kosti,

1) There are DVD+RW and DVD-RW ... re-writeable DVD blanks out there for less than a dollar ... I use them when guessing at some projects also.

2) If you already have OEM Nero (I have ver 6.6.1.4) ... get the free Digital Upgrade online and use program called "Nero Vision Express" or

3) If you have Windows XP SP2 ... a program called "Windows Movie Maker" ... it is on your hard rive ... just look under "Accessories" tab is hidden there ...
