    screen capture

Is there any DVD player software that will do a screen capture with a higher resolution than WinDVD allows?
    Appreciate any suggestions.

You find 16 million colors inadequate?

DVDs have a maximum resolution of 720x576 (as far as I know). If you want higher res you should enlarge it with a painting-program. For best picture-quality you should use a ripper to capture the pictures without modification by the playback-software.

Are you inquiring about color resolution (depth) or pixel resolution?

i was interested in max. pixel resolution...
if Benderman's response is an indication that DVDs only contain data for 720x576, then I guess I can't capture a higher res image. But if there's video content for a higher resolution capture on a DVD, I'd like to know how to capture it...

There isn't (and NTSC DVDs are only 720x480 versus PAL of 720x576)...
