anyone know how i can reduce a 100% xvid dvd backup to smaller size xvid.

obviously this refers to any size avi but I have several dvd backups that i converted to a 100% xvid and as a result are quite large anything between 1-3 gigs. Anyone know of a method by which i can reduce their size to the 700 mb mark. Auto GK gave me some messy results but I haven't really tried very many different settings on this but if anyone can suggest anything.

    Thanks

    Welcome to the forum

Encode again, from the DVD, this time setting output size to 700mb.

      thanks for the welcome

there are 1 or 2 items that aren't from dvd originally as well that need resizing, I was hoping there might be some application that would give better results than auto gk. And from a convenience point of view as well, would take alot of time to redo the dvds.

If not, there goes my weekend

MeGUI. But quality depends mainly on things like the codec, codec settings, bitrate and resolution. GUIs just automate the process.

If you're after higher quality, best to encode from the highest quality source
