Help using dual layer 8.5GB DVD+R's

How big is each side? Remember you can only fit about 8 to 81/2 Gigs on a DL. My feeling is that each side of those discs are going to be 6+ to 7 Gigs.

Lets see if I understand what I'm suppose to do here.

1. Back-up both A/B sides to HD. This will create and ISO file for each side.

2. Open remakepro and select the 2 ISO files than select Join for remakepro
to join the 2 files and create 1 out put files.

3. Now open ImgBurn select the out put folder created by remakepro and burn to Double Layer Disk (+r), ImgBurn does it's thing and I now have both Side A/B on one DL with orginal menu.

I'm I in the ballpark or out in the parking lot with this?

Also are there any setting I need to be changed in 1, 2, or 3 above or any other programs I will need? Thanks
