Cannot view WMV files no matter what

Well, and my pleasure too. I just finished watching (twice, actually...*grin) three lovely blonde women in a 14:47 video. No, it won't win any awards for acting (at least I don't THINK they were acting. lol), but the fact that the video, when viewed full screen, was as clear as at least a lot of vids compressed with the newest DivX 5.0.2, or even 3.11, or mpeg, etc., while weighing in at a whopping 39MB and change for nearly 15 minutes!, was the icing on the cake. I'm frankly at a loss as to the ragging I'd heard with regard to WMV. Obviously this is my first experience with WMV, because it is the first WMV file to ever play correctly on my system. And I am a bit sorry that when I tried ASF-Tools 2.3 to convert it to an avi so I could edit it just a bit in Virtual Dub, I got the exact same results as I had before - just sound and a bunch of colors moving around the screen. I even broke out Virtual Dub 1.3 to try editing it directly, but got errors and gave up. But for the purpose it's served, I have no complaints at all with the WMV format. Frankly, I'd love to see ANY of the other codecs produce similar results at under 40 MB for nearly 15 minutes of decent resolution video with sound. And now...nah, three would be too many times for one day. I'll wait until tomorrow. Thanks again, and take care.

Anybody spare some pencils?
Sure. All you need is a couple of pencils?
Uh, yeah, just a couple of pencils for a guy who seems to be temporarily down on his luck.
Well, ok, then. What harm could a couple of pencils do?
Thanks. You're a real angel.Comment
