    Burning .AVI files onto DVDs

I've been burning DVDs for years, but I've never tried to put movie files onto discs to be viewed on a DVD player. I've searched through the forum, but I am having a hard time finding an answer to my specific question. Any help would be greatly appreciated, even if it is just links to other threads. I currently have Nero 6 Ultra Edition for burning.

if you have a divx capable player just tell nero to make a data dvd

otherwise nero vision will convert, but doesn't support 5.1 sound unless you upgrade to nero 7(waste of money)

dvd flick is a free program and easy to use/learn for converting avi to dvd files

save to the hard drive then burn after checking the output
