    h264 decoder overpowered by 3ivx

    Hello,
    I've been unable to get video encoded with h264 format to playback on my computer. recently i think i've isolated the problem. When trying to playback the files, & i look at the filters being used, it seems 3ivx is trying to handle the playback, even tho i've installed both x264 decoder & more recently CoreAVC h264 veido decoder 1.2. How can i get those codecs to actually handle the video playback? p.s. i cant even seem to uninstall 3ivx because its not in add/remove programs, so if uninstalling it is the solution i'd need to know the specifics of what registry keys to remove & what files to manually delete. Thanks for anyhelp, i'd really imagine the solution is finding some registry entry to redirect.

    Perhaps try something like the Radlight Filter Manager and change the merit level of the 3ivX decoder so that the CoreAVC is given preference over it:

    Download RadLight Filter Manager, a tool that can set the merit levels for DirectShow filters

      Ok the problem wasnt 3ivx. I unregistered it entirely & then the playback filters were showing nothing handling it. So then i went to afreecodec.com & got both the most current ffdshow filter which says it can handle h264 format & got the most current h264 decoder from that site. Still, nothing, black screen of h264 video. The filter lists show ffdsow is handling it, but nothing being displayed. With more & more video being encoded in the format, not being able to get it to play is becoming more & more of a problem. I've never had problems installing & using codecs prior to this one, so does anyone have any idea why i cannot playback this format, what could be going wrong?

      Posting/attaching info. First a text extraction from mkvinfo (its an mkv file so gspot doesnt show anything);

      Also attacked is a screen shot from mediaplayerclassic listing the filter in use when playing, & second atttachment is just showing the streams when opened in mkvmerge. P.S. i couldnt find a version of nandub, & vitualdubmod doesnt seem to read the video & shows the fourcc of the codec as "yyyy"

        Which Matroska splitter are you using? Perhaps try disabling the internal Matroska source filter in MPC and using the latest Haali version instead?
