    Finalizing Mini-DVDs

All my video-editing work so far has (thank goodness) been limited to D8 or DV tapes. Now, ignoring all advice and common sense, I've gone and accepted a job that involves Mini-DVDs. I've never worked with them before, and don't actually know much about them.

The first step is reading the dang things. I have tried three computers and two DVD players, but nothing recognizes them as valid discs. Based on the "empty" message one of the computers gave me, I'm assuming the discs aren't finalized and each of my players starts looking for data after the video segment is completed, and thus finds a blank disc.

This is a guess, but I think a reasonable one.

Can I finalize the discs without going out and buying a Mini-DVD camera just for this purpose? Or, better yet, is there something else I can do to read these stupid things?

    Any help would be appreciated.

the best way is finalizing in the camera with power connected(batteries are iffy)

isobuster can read the files, but you may need the deluxe paid version

So, if my best bet is to pick up a new camera, can I assume that any camera will do?

I have no use for it in the field, and if all cameras will finalize in the same way, I might as well go dirt-cheap, right? I can find a refurbished one for $150. Is this a case where a rose is a rose is a rose?

If quality will be compromised, I'll certainly do something else.

      Thanks again!

Oh, blast. Make that almost $300... I'll start looking into that software you mentioned.
