some are saying this is the best burner on the market today,
after seeing this 16x dual layer burn, I can't argue with them

chewy thnx. this looks good. great reviews. oem has different definitions. when you use it here do you mean the original manufacturer that makes it, like samsung in this case, or the company that buys it and uses it like dell does w/lg? where would i get the sata cables if i purchase this? do you have any info on this model being compatible w/my dell e310?

hi chewy. just to be sure, when you guys mention oem are you using that as the original manufacturer or as the company who buys the product and then resells it like dell did w/my lg burner as part of their pc package. i just want to be clear cause that samsung from newegg says oem and from the reviews i've read it doesn't come w/the sata cables. so if i purchase it from newegg am i getting it directly from samsung or is newegg the oem. just wondering whether it coming directly from samsung or from newegg had anything to do w/the sata cables not accompanying it?

yes, the use of the word oem has 2 seperate meanings here, the drive from newegg comes without a cable or software, but this can vary. oem vs retail(pretty box)

now if samsung makes a drive for a big computer manufacturer which uses seperate
firmware from the same drive that newegg or someone else sells, then oem just means
that dell or whoever has to support the drive not samsung

newegg doesn't do firmware, samsung drives from them use the official firmware

a sata cable(data) can be had at any computer store, I buy in bulk to avoid high price

                        I bought eight of these

small mom and pop computer stores do the same thing from local wholesalers

the software is optional. nero oem disk?

hi chewy. justed wanted to know how that new samsung from newegg is holding up. is it living up to the reviews and your personal experience w/it? also is it worth upgrading the nero cd-dvd speed v.4.7.5.0 to the latest version? also thanks for that info on the sata cables.

I chose wisely 1-2 years ago and all my burners are holding up fine, when one dies I might get another

they are all out of production, long gone from the market

chewy that samsung does come w/a black tray right? saw two reviews today and there was some discrepancy towards the b at the end of the model #. i want to be sure cause gwonk pointed out something about the black trays being better cause there was no reflection as opposed to the white ones.
