Backing up of PS1 games

Hi there, downloaded Alcohol 120 as previously advised, just a couple of questions before I start as I dont want to end up with a spindle of coasters!-

At what speed do I back up the games
Can a game on a cd be backed up onto a dvd

Have read all the guides etc, but no info on the above. Sorry if this is in the wrong place, but could find no threads for Alcohol 120.

you might find someone at cdfreaks that uses that program, afaik noone here does
