guys, i took the suggestion and downloaded the nero info-tool. great asset to have. i also have the nero cd-dvd speed. my lg burner can't do a quality scan. soup gave me the heads up on that. what i need to know is what info should i be looking for in info-tool that would let me know if i can perform a scan or not? also, some suggestions on how to know what readers/burners would be able to perform this before i purchase one?

good scanning and burning drives are liteon and samsung
that's about it, your lg will do transfer tests, problem is they tend to be such good readers that even a marginal burn looks good in them
