PowerDVD 5 - I downloaded version 7 for free, I don't like it, how do I go back?

As you might know, Windows XP comes with PowerDVD 5. I tried the new version PowerDVD 7 in a free trial download. I don't care for it. It doesn't screen capture the way PowerDVD 5 did, which was a lot better and steady.

So I just uninstalled it. How can I get back the previous version available? Because I recall [installing 7] that there was a "copy" of PowerDVD, so I had to replace it in order to download the new version.

I'd hate to have to download PowerDVD 5 as a free trial that will just expire (I can't even seem to find that, by the way) when I originally had it on my computer to begin with.

    welcome to the forum

your copy of powerdvd probably came with your computer, not windows xp, it's usually
included with a retail dvd-rom drive

    start/run/regedit

    search for cyberlink

if your original key is still there you might try it with the demo version of 5

Thank you! That helped a lot, but I still having one or two problems. I searched for Cyberlink, its not there. Its probably b/c I uninstalled the version 7. That and everywhere I go to download the 5 version it only shows me version 7.

Thanks for the links. Those were helpful as well, yet when I downloaded PowerDVD 5, when I clicked to open the program it tells me my free trial was expired. lol Great...

well you never should have upgraded, you might be able to go back to a previous restore point before you installed 7

if not then you would have to find the 7 key and delete it, they hide them well to prevent hacking of trial versions

or borrow an oem disk from someone that came with a drive?

Thanks for the suggestions. They all sound dreadful for a lazy person like me.

I don't like the way it captures. When I pause it and cap the screen, the frame moves into the next frame second and captures that. Its annoying, and I have patience for that. lol

i think it actually captures the frame then skip to next, so u can capture the next frame.

This can be changed in Cofigurations/Player/Advanced/Snapshot.I use Version 7 and find no problem with it.In fact it gives much more options.

I would also suggest that you do a little work and PD 7.0, far more options than PD 5.0 and easy to use.
