    I don't mean to sound stupid but.....

    which device? The pc itself or the cd rom? I don't know how to turn off the cd rom aside from the disable feature in device manager.

      turn the computer off, pull the power cord from the back or unplug the male end and leave it for several minutes, did this help?

      if not?

      now again I will ask what happens when you boot into safe mode?

      if the drive still stays open then it's bad, replace it

        Unplug the power cord that connects the CD drive to the computer, and push the tray in. Then, when you plug it back in, it should stay that way. (Wait like 15 minutes before plugging it in to be safe)

          before signing up for any online paid survey scheme, check the background of the site. If the website ask you to provide your credit card number then you must think twice. A legitimate work online from home does not ask for this type of information.
