I just bought a new comp, and if I was running xp it would be even better and faster. But, it came with Vista pre-installed and I heard finding the drivers for the hardware (for xp) would be even harder since they dont exist. (So I heard). I used to use dvdflick, avi-demux. Will these still work on Vista? Is there something better?
What avi converter and menu editor works best with Vista?

I'm using DVD Flick 1221, AviDemux 2.4, FAVC 1.04, d2mp 3.7 all
on Vista. Some apps like SUPER work but are kinda' touchy on Vista.
Also TMPGEnc Plus 2.54 VirtualDub and VirtualDubMod,
Gui4ffmpeg.... Try 'em and if you get something broken usually
it's just a codec or you need AviSynth or something you can download. -
You're welcome. If you have a dual core machine and haven't tried
FAVC 1.04 check it out. It's kinda like layin' it over around corners
as fast as you can. Once in a while it crashes but usually you get
one hell of a ride!Comment

It was fast and decent menu too. I have a damaged avi file that I used (not knowing) So everything was great till the error, the video corrected itself but the audio was out of sync from there on. Any suggestions? Oh and .net framework is already apart of the Vista OS?? Didnt know that, is there anything else we would have to add to Xp that is already on vista?
Thanks again

I have tried different avi repair proggys but they're not 100%. This was amazing to see though!! Nice program. I havent tried to see how long the higher quality setting takes, just the speed setting. Thank you to all

Hey guys how do you pull up the log for a encode? I just spent 4-5hrs on a high-quality set favc test with five sources and it just stoped. Theres an iso where its supposed to be, but it empty, 0 kb. it alao shut-down automatically, no errors!! I'm trying again in balance.Comment

Thank you for your response, I had tried to post in the Doom9 forum. Unfortunately I have to wait 5 days before posting under favc.
I did try again with Balance setting, and was successful . Is there a link to somewhere that explains what FAVC does while encoding with dual core proc.? I see multiple screens while encoding both video and audio. I love the menu author, simple and effective.
Please read my other posts, maybe you have some insight on how I can use favc with dv.

Mr_Odwin I thought I'd post an acknowledgment because your program
saved me a lot of grief!! I was knocking myself out trying to modify some
.avi files with hard subs so that they didn't drop off the screen when
played on my stand-alone DVD player. I got one to work after a bunch
of AddBorders() trial and error, but the same script didn't work on
the next file. Then I noticed the Incorporate TV Overscan option
in FAVC!!!! Ahhh, things became so much easier then!!
