NeroVision Express crashes

Hi all. All of a sudden my NeroVision Express crashes when loading a video file, otherwise the program is stable. This didn't occur before. Already uninstalled & reinstalled and tried other versions to no avail. Error message goes like this: "Nerovision.exe has generated errors and will be closed by Windows. Must restart program. A log file will be created."

Any help much appreciated.

did you run the official nero clean tools between installing/uninstalling nero?

nero vision is trying to use it's own codecs and windows ones also?

uninstall nero, then run the clean tool

reboot

now what codec packs have you loaded?

uninstall them

you have upgraded windows to media player 10?

the safest codec I have found is FFDSHOW

I do use FFDSHOW codec. But I'll try and do what you suggest. By the way I installed NVE ver. 3.0.1.27 and here's the error log generated, it has a few more lines in it:

BTW I use Windows Media Player 9 (10 isn't compatible with W2K).

Also curiously enough Nero Express does not crash and is Ok. But I want to use NVE to burn VCD's because of the split feature since a whole movie doesn't fit on one CD.

Yes W2K SP4. I have to say that NVE worked perfectly before. But I just don't know what went wrong.

dx 10 and media player 11 are intended for vista

dx9 and media player 10 for xp

dx 8.1 and media player 9 for W2k

I gave up on vcd's 3 years ago when I bought my first dvd burner

I have done one or two with vision as tests only with nero 6

You are right 8.1 is best for w2k. But I can't find an uninstaller so far...

nero is really an accident waiting to happen

back in the W2k and win 98 days, video conversions were an iffy proposition, when you finally figured out what would work, it was best to do a clean install and only load those programs and nothing else

Things are a little better now, but "history repeats itself"
