How newbie-friendly is MeGUI?

Having read the interesting threads about SUPER, which I've been using, I'm wondering if I should move on to MeGUI. I get that it's more advanced, but is it still capable of being used by a newbie without having to wade through a plethora of options? I don't mind learning how to get the best out of new software, but I am interested to know if its OOBE is going to be pleasant, mildly stressful or cataplexy-inducing for a newbie like me. TIA.

Probably not, as that would be backwardly compatible, but the AVISynth version may be important. Try it!
