I have 25 .avi files that I cannot play on my MP4 player (Archos 605 WiFi) Because the player does not support Quarter Pixel and GMC is not supported. I'm really not sure what that is. I just want to make my files work on the player. According to sources at an Archos support forum (http://forum.archosfans.com/index.php) I need to re-encode these videos with something compatible with the player. I've tried using PocketDivx encoder but that always crashes on my computer and I have no idea why. I am also having trouble re-encoding with VirtualDub because I get this error message:
"
Couldn't locate decompressor for format 'DX50' (unknown)
VirtualDub requires a Video for Windows (VFW) compatible codec to decompress video. DirectShow codecs, such as those used by Windows Media Player, are not suitable.
"
SO BASICALLY, I just need to "turn off" (I know, I need to re-encode) Quarter Pixel and GMC. I would like to keep the files .avi because the Archos mp4 player is compatible with that format. What Program (freeware of course) can I use to do this?
Thanks in advance,
